About the PMI Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) Program
The CCR program pertains to individuals who hold any or all of the following PMI credentials:
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Program Management Professional (PgMP)
- PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP)SM
- PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP)SM
Professional Development Units
The Professional Development Unit (PDU) is the measuring unit used to quantify approved learning and professional service activities. Typically, one PDU is earned for every one hour spent in a planned, structured learning experience or activity.
Each credential requires a certain number of PDUs per three-year credential cycle.
| Credential | No. of PDUs required for each three-year cycle |
| PMP | 60 |
| PgMP | 60 |
| PMI-SP | 30 PDUs in specialized area of project scheduling |
| PMI-RMP | 30 PDUs in specialized area of project risk management |
What PDUs are earned by attending R.E.P. activities?
PDUs may be earned by attending educational courses offered by organisations registered with PMI and designated as PMI Registered Education Providers (R.E.P.s) or PMI Components, e.g. our supplier, Intuition.
The CCR Program organises PDUs into 5 categories. R.E.P.s are authorised to issue category 3 PDU certificates to attendees upon completion of their registered courses.
Individuals are responsible for reporting their PDU activities as they occur. The most efficient way to report PDUs is by using the online PDU resources system: PDU resources system . By entering category 3 and the course code, individuals directly obtain the PDUs as the courses of REP organizations have been pre-approved by the PMI.
How can individuals use Intuition’s registered courses?
- Candidates who want to obtain the Project Management Professional (PMP) credential can use Intuition’s Project Management courses towards the 35 hours required in Project Management.
- Individuals who have already obtained the credential can use Intuition’s courses for renewing their certification, as certification must be renewed every three years. To renew individuals must register 60 PDUs for each three-year cycle.
Individuals should maintain a personal CCR folder as a place to file documentation (e.g. certificates, etc) that supports reported PDU activities. Note: A percentage of credential holders will be randomly selected for PMI’s audit process. During an audit, these credential holders will be asked to submit supporting material to verify any PDUs submitted. Therefore, documentation for all PDU claims should be maintained for at least 18 months after the CCR cycle has ended.
