This course will give participants an overview of the Irish Land and Conveyancing Act, 2009 which commenced in December 2009 and has radically changed the law in the area. It provides 1 hour of your CPD requirements.

 

Course Topics

Co-ownership - changes to aspects of the law of co-ownership:

 

• Unilateral severance of a joint tenancy.
• The court’s new jurisdiction to deal with disputes between co-owners.

Trusts of Land

 

• Drafters of trust instruments will benefit from a discussion of Part 4 of the 2009 Act.
• We seek a full understanding of the present state of the law governing trusts of land, looking at the interaction of the general law of trusts with the new statutory provisions.

• This CPD Seminar is designed for those who practice in the area of conveyancing in Ireland.

 

The Presenter

Laura Farrell, Barrister at Law, M.A. (Oxon), LL.M (Dub)

 

Laura Farrell read law at Jesus College, Oxford, where she was a scholar and Welson prize-winner, and holds a Masters in Laws from Trinity College Dublin. She has been called to the Bars of England and Wales and of Ireland, and she presently has a broad practice at the Bar of Ireland, specialising in property and probate law.
