Business Finance CPD Online Course Description
UK Bribery Act |
UK Bribery Act 2010 Online Course

Course Objectives
On completion of this tutorial, you will be able to:
- outline the purpose and scope of the Bribery Act 2010
- describe the four types of offence under the Bribery Act, namely bribing another person, being bribed, bribing a foreign public official and the corporate offence of failing to prevent bribery
- recognise the potential consequences and penalties of a breach of the requirements of the Bribery Act
Tutorial Overview
Modern society seeks greater transparency and higher standards in both public office and the corporate world. In response to pressure from the public, various government authorities across the world have enacted legislation to change the traditional culture of ‘oiling the wheels of power’ where monetary rewards are given in exchange for decisions made in favour of vested interests.
Weaknesses in UK anti-bribery and corruption legislation meant that relatively few prosecutions were raised in this country. The Bribery Act aims to address this by providing a modern and comprehensive legal framework that enables courts and prosecutors to respond more effectively to bribery in the UK or abroad.
